Multiple factors, NONE OF WHICH ARE JUSTIFIABLE EXCUSES IMO:

1) builders are supposed to provide one honey bucket per 10 full time workers on site. This is sometimes not the case

2) you cant just piss outside because many neighboring Homes are occupied as the platt continues to build. Public indecency to sex offender charges if you’re unlucky.

3) trades that involve a lot of gear or suits (sheetrock, interior painters especially) don’t want to get in and out of gear all day

4) shitty fucking labor that has no pride in their work and doesn’t give a fuck about who lives in the house

For me, it’s going to be #4 99% of the time.

Also, some jobsites are real mud pits. The builders that I have seen like to have the landscaping done LAST, even the driveway. Until that happens, you’re lucky if there’s a path of pallets to walk on.

Yeah, end of fall is definitely the worst season to access new homes half built. And then you track in mud and dirt and sand and chunks of concrete and all the floor trades give you the stink-eye.
